Our commitment
PhiChess is committed to ensuring our website is accessible to all users, including those who rely on assistive technologies. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA standard across all pages and interactive features.
Supported assistive technologies
PhiChess is designed to work with:
- Keyboard navigation — all interactive elements are reachable and operable using a keyboard alone. Focus indicators are visible throughout.
- Screen readers — pages use semantic HTML and ARIA labels so screen readers (such as NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver, and TalkBack) can convey content and controls accurately.
- 200% zoom — content reflows and remains usable when browser text size or zoom is increased to 200%.
- High contrast and dark mode — a dark mode is available and all text meets WCAG AA contrast ratios in both light and dark themes.
Known limitations
We are continuously improving the site. If you encounter an accessibility barrier not listed here, please let us know using the contact details below.
How to report an issue
If you experience a barrier or difficulty accessing any part of PhiChess, please email support@phichess.com with "Accessibility" in the subject line. We aim to respond within 5 business days and will work with you to provide the information or feature in an accessible format.
Technical specification
PhiChess is built using semantic HTML5, React (server and client components), and Tailwind CSS. Pages are rendered server-side for fast initial load and use progressive enhancement for interactive features. Colour contrast ratios for all foreground text meet or exceed 4.5:1 (WCAG AA).
